John O’Hare, 66, was born and raised in the United States of America with a lifelong love of Newcastle United.
And this week, on March 16th, he’s set for a “unique” experience, getting to watch Newcastle United fight for their first piece of domestic silverware in 70 years.
“I had a strong interest in the city of Newcastle and the people of the area since my father was born there.
“Being a sports fan, I wanted to support a Newcastle team; I found out the biggest team in Newcastle was the Newcastle United Football Club.”
Over the years, Mr O’Hare would dedicate any time he could to watching the Magpies, ensuring that despite the distance, he would “never” miss it.
“For many, many years I couldn’t watch a match.
“The time difference can be a bit tough if we play an early game, but I never miss it.”

Fortunately for the superfan, this Sunday’s game won’t require him to find the right channel, as the luck of the draw will see him sitting in the sea of black and white at Wembley.
Mr O’Hare was lucky enough to be selected in the final ballot for tickets – pot six.
“I couldn’t believe it when I was selected.
“This will be a unique experience, and I look forward to it.”
Mr O’Hare is also a co-owner of a fan lead group Through Black & White Eyes, where he regularly features on their talks on YouTube.
Co-owner, Barry Thomas, said Mr O’Hare had “raw passion” and dedication to the club.
He said: “John brings a great sense of humor to the shows.
“His raw passion is on show for all to see, as he’s never false.
“He enters all the ballots, and if unsuccessful, he pays for corporate tickets just so that he gets to the match.”
Mr Thomas added: “Like everyone else, he took his chance in pot six and was one of the lucky ones.
“[It’s] fully deserved, and I’m buzzing for him!”
