Newcastle Market Celebrates Women-Owned Businesses This International Women’s Day

Written by on 7th March 2025

A vibrant market showcasing over 50 women-owned businesses will take place in Newcastle this International Women’s Day weekend.

The event, held on March 8 and 9 at the Ouseburn Trust Visitors Centre, will run from 10 am to 4 pm. Organised by Flaura Rose and The Find, the market is free to attend and aims to celebrate, support, and empower women while raising funds for two charities: West End Women and Girls and Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland.

A representative from The Find, one of the event’s co-organisers, highlighted the significance of the market, saying: “It’s an all female operation and I think it’s an excellent example of the skills and capability women have to offer. Business women are over looked and underestimated. It feels great to showcase all these talented women. It’s time to invest in women. And the business world needs to wake up to that.

They added: “Women are hardworking and capable. I’m delighted to be able to put a spotlight on women and the gap in representation and investment.”

The market promises to be an inspiring celebration of female entrepreneurship while making a meaningful impact on women’s charities.

A spokesperson for Ouseburn Trust Visitors Centre said: “We’re delighted to be involved in an event celebrating the brilliant female creatives in Newcastle. There’s so much local talent that deserves to be showcased, and what better way than to combine it with raising money for some extremely important causes.”

Some of the female traders attending the event shared their thoughts: Weezy Pop, a bold and quirky jewellery brand said: “We’ll be there all day making personalised jewellery, where customers can choose their colours, and we’ll make up their Heart Huggie earrings or necklaces right there on the spot – completely personalised and totally unique. It’s such a joy to be part of this amazing event for International Women’s Day, surrounded by so many inspiring female business owners.”

Sarah Taylor, Founder of natural skincare brand – Pamoja, said: “It’s going to be a joy to being part of the All Women and Girls Market, coming together to celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and community spirit on International Women’s Day. This event is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our work, support each other, and recognise the achievements of women in business and the arts.”
